"We have had our new home only about five years and already hard water was taking it's toll on our appliances. In just a couple of weeks, from installing the Scaltrol,
the deposits and stains began to disappear." Mike and Mary F., Gallupville, NY
Home and Farm Solutions, LLC is proud to offer Rusco Sediment Filters. If you do not have an existing filter in your
water system, we strongly recommend you add a Rusco Sediment Filter prior to
the Scaltrol.The Scaltrol works on
a venturi principle (much like a carburetor) by pulling in the sequestrant
based on the flow of the water through the unit. This small orifice can become clogged without
a filter, just like any carburetor would get plugged without some sort of fuel filter.
The Rusco ‘spin down” filter works by creating a sediment
bowl where sediment is spun out of the water flow because it is unable to pass
through the screening.The sediment then
settles to the bottom sediment sump of the clear Rusco base.Since the units are clear, you can easily see
the sediment build-up and know when to flush it. The best part is there are no filters to
buy month after month – just open the drain at the bottom of the Rusco
filter and flush out as needed. Typically once or twice a year is all that is
needed although some areas may require more frequent flushing.
Tips:
1)The drain
is threaded so you can also add a NPT (national pipe thread) x hose adapter (available
at any home center) on the bottom. This
would let you run a hose to your drain or sump pit rather than holding a bucket
under the filter.
2)Do not use
tools to tighten the sediment filter.Just
hand tighten the base onto the head.
